Malakate Brothers, “Brotherhood in sculpture”<\/p>\n
Jacob and Frangiskos Malakates were born in the village Ysternia of Tinos during the early years of the Greek Revolution of 1821.<\/p>\n
Both showed their inclination for art, from an early age, something remarked by their father who was a marble sculptor.<\/p>\n
Their family moved to Athens in 1835 and established themselves in a marble workshop at the junction of the roads Korais and Stadiou.<\/p>\n
They managed to save the Parthenon from possible collapse, supporting it technically<\/p>\n
All their lifetime long, they never stopped creating works of art and rebuilding public and private buildings while their lab was awarded repeatedly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
